Fireline Installation Process

There are many steps to designing and installing an underground fireline system. Firelines are vital to protecting your building and employees. We know that many business owners want to better understand the complete installation process. Chief Underground Services has years of experience in the industry. Our experts have outlined a step-by-step process on what you can expect for your fireline installation.

Underground areas present great access-difficulties and unknowns. After all, the underground piping options should provide the utmost resistance and durability to avoid future repairs. The design for the piping should consider, weather patterns, type of terrain,  and any adjacent structures that might be affected. When we partner with sprinkler system companies and other fire protection specialists we follow these steps to assure the highest quality underground system design, the best equipment, and trenching plan specific for the project.

Our Process

Research City Requirements

When it comes to fireline protection systems and underground piping, each city has its own rules and requirements that must be followed. While Chief Underground mainly works in Dallas and the surrounding areas, we are familiar with the requirements for all major cities in Texas.

Site Evaluation

Next, we will evaluate the land your business is on and determine where the water main is. Then, we will locate the riser room (the designated spot for the sprinkler system’s control center) and where other utilities should be placed underground.

Designing Your Layout

After locating the water main is and determining where the riser room should be, we then work with a civil engineer to design the layout for your fireline system. This is a critical step because your fireline will not perform properly in an emergency if incorrectly designed. The design must allow easy access for repairs and ensure water will properly flow to its designated location.

Submit Layout to the City

We always make sure to follow regulations and will obtain any necessary permits from the proper authorities. We also submit the layout for your system to the city for approval. This ensures that your fireline system is safe and effective.

Initial City Inspection

Once approved, the city will perform an initial inspection. The inspector will double-check Chief Underground Services’ work to make sure that everything works correctly.

Excavation Process Begins

Finally, after receiving the stamp of approval from the inspector, we can get to work with construction for your underground fireline system. This process begins with digging trenches into the Earth and laying down Blue Brute pipes.
